Frequently Asked Questions

Giclee
A giclee print is made using a special printer sometimes called an Iris printer. They are high quality 6 color prints and are often difficult to distinguish from the original. My prints are reproduced on heavy watercolor stock exactly like the original using Somerset or Epson archival papers. The inks are a 6 color MIS archival inkset.

8x10 Print   Prints that are shown as 8x10 are matted prints that will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame.  The image size is generally 5.5" x 7.25 inches.  The prints are shrinkwrapped for protection during shipping.

11x14 Print
Prints that are shown as 11x14 are matted prints that will fit a standard 11 x 14 picture frame.  The image size is generally 8.25" x 11 inches.  The prints are shrinkwrapped for protection during shipping.

Limited Edition Print   Limited edition prints are generally produced in the same size as the original.  They are matted to fit a standard frame size and usually  have a narrow margin area  around the image for signature purposes. All Limited edetion prints are made in a  numbered series and range from a series of 20 to 100 prints.  Each print is numbered and hand signed in the lower margin and then shrinkwrapped for protection.  When the last print in the series is sold the original image files for reproduction are destroyed and the series is  complete which makes each of those prints unique and collectable.

Notecard    Notecards are printed on heavy card stock and center folded. They have the image on the front with a small black outline border.  The name of the print is printed on the back.  The inside is left blank for you to use as a personal notecard or thank you card. Each set of 5 cards comes with matching envelopes.

Buy with confidence     I want you to feel confident in purchasing my work online. I'm quite sure you will be pleased with your purchase. Every painting I have sold online has been viewed by the purchaser with the same comment "IT WAS BETTER THAN I EXPECTED WHEN I ACTUALLY RECIEVED IT".  The online image never does the original or print justice and I'm sure you will be pleased when you recieve your artwork.  References from previous buyers can be provided.

How to purchase   You may use the online order form and your order information will be sent to the artist (myself) directly.  You will also recieve a confirmation order for your records.  I will contact you via email before shipping and your order will be sent COD.  You may also pay with a credit card via PayPal and I will provide you with payment information upon request.

Online Auction   The online auction is a different way to offer some of my work.  Occasionally I will list some original paintings, excess print inventory, notecards and misc. items of art interest.  The auction requires no registration and no information is stored.  Feel free to email me using the Contact the Artist page if you have any questions.

Contact the Artist    You may contact me using the email form on the Contact the Artist page or you can email me at jtomlin@ptd.net with any questions you might have.  Feel free to ask any questions about my work. You might be interested in a Limited Edtion print and want to know what number in the series is available.  You can also contact me regarding the Village Art Association or some of the shows I do annually.  Feel free to contact me to discuss whatever questions you have or just to say "hello"
